My Asus Eee Pc Deeply Review 3/4

14 June 2008 47 views No Comment

I have installed Microsoft Office in my SDHC Card. There are also times that I’m getting errors. I don’t know why. I have removed and re-installed it again. Pretty much it works fine now. I have installed Windows XP Home SP2 and Avast Anti-Virus to my 2GB Asus Eee Pc Surf. I have used 1.37 GB of my C: Drive and left me with 492 MB Available. Not bad after all since Linux consumed almost the same when I checked it. The difference is that there are applications that were already installed in the Linux OS. Here are the ones that I was able to install on my SDHC successfully:

1. Microsoft Office – hopefully it will continue to work fine.
2. Opera – I recommend using this for Eee Pc Users and laptops that can only accommodate 800 x 600 screen resolutions. Opera has the zoom in and zoom out feature and will really be helpful for viewing large scale websites. I used Opera 9.27 International. It’s only 6.35 MB so feel free to try!
3. iTunes – Gotta have this for my iPod.
4. ActiveSync – for pocket pc or PDA users like me. I use my HP iPaq 6515 to connect to the internet. I also installed HTC Modem for me to be able to dial up.
5. Lots of Yahoo Games – Wedding Dash, Miss Management, Jane’s Hotel, Burger Shop, Sally Salon and more.

Since the Asus Surf doesn’t come with a laptop sleeve, I bought a black laptop sleeve like inside SM Department Store for Php97 ( $2.42 ). It has been an on-going issue on the web with regards to the battery life of Asus Eee Pc. I myself have been sneaking several forums about this. I’ve read that battery reading in both Linux and Windows isn’t accurate. My laptop initially came with a 4400 mAh battery. I initially charged it for 4hours straight. You will notice that the orange light which is the battery indicator will shut itself around 2 hours of charging. I was able to use Eee Pc for 2 hours and 10 minutes max. My brightness was already set to lowest. The 2.10 hrs are used to play yahoo games with sounds. I never got 100% rate on my battery though it shows that it’s already full charged. I always get the 90% rate. I’m not sure if it really works that way as I have read that battery meter shows incorrect values. Can anyone confirm this?
